How to walk into a CSE meeting prepared and calm.
Your checklist
- ✓ Read prior IEP and all evaluations
- ✓ Write your top 3 priorities on one page
- ✓ Bring an advocate or trusted second adult
- ✓ Request meeting notes / draft IEP in advance
- ✓ Bring data — work samples, behavior logs, outside reports
Your rights
- • You can record the meeting (notify the team in writing first).
- • You can request a follow-up meeting if items aren't resolved.
Red flags
- ! Pre-written IEP shown only at meeting
- ! Pressure to sign immediately
