About

Real advocacy. Real answers. Real next steps.

We built NYAdvocacy.help because families don't need another directory. They need to know what to do today.

What's different here

Most NY disability sites are organized around government acronyms — OPWDD, IDEA, HCBS, NYSED. We organized this site around what families actually say: "My child is being denied school services." "I need respite this week." "I can't safely care for my loved one at home."

Every page ends in a next step: a phone number, a script, a document checklist, a person to call.

Who this is for

Parents, caregivers, siblings, and adults with developmental disabilities living in New York State. Whether you're new to OPWDD, fighting an IEP, looking for respite, or planning for when you can no longer provide care.

What this isn't

This is not legal advice. This is not a substitute for an attorney, physician, Care Manager, or licensed advocate. We point you to the right people; we don't replace them.

What we link to

Every organization listed here is one we'd actually point a family to. We're not exhaustive — we're curated. If we missed someone who serves NY families well, tell us.
